Intense pulsed light (IPL) is used to boost collagen production and help tighten skin as well as fight acne breakouts, acne scarring, rosacea, melasma spots, and sun damaged skin.
The technology utilizes a broad spectrum light-source, with a general spectral range of 400 to 1200 nm. Various cutoff filters are placed in front of the light-source to filter the undesired frequencies and allow the desired wavelength to target hemoglobin and/or melanin which absorbs the light. The light is converted to heat and destroys the vessels or lesions without any damage to the surrounding tissue.
A consultation and test patch is required before IPL and laser treatments are provided.
