Breast Augmentation

* Improve breast shape and fullness

One of the most frequently performed cosmetic surgery procedures in the U.S., breast augmentation can give women with small or unevenly sized breasts a fuller, firmer, more-proportioned look through the placement of implants in the breast. Motives for breast augmentation surgery vary from balancing breast symmetry to compensating for reduced breast mass after weight loss or pregnancy. With saline or silicone gel implants, you can achieve the beautiful proportions you have always desired.

Feelings or conditions that may indicate you’re a good candidate for breast augmentation:

  • You are bothered by the feeling that your breasts are too small

  • Weight loss has changed the size and shape of your breasts

  • After having children, your breasts have become smaller and have lost their firmness

  • Dresses that fit well around your hips are often too large at the bust line

  • One of your breasts is noticeably smaller than the other

  • You feel self-conscious wearing a swimsuit or form-fitting top

During your consultation, we will work together to choose the implant size that is best for you. In choosing the correct implant, we take into consideration the proportion of your breasts to your height, your weight and chest width, the location of your nipple (areola complex), the distance from your nipple to your breast fold (infra-mammary fold), and your desired cleavage after surgery. Whatever your reasons for considering breast augmentation, I am here to help. I will listen carefully to your goals, helping you choose the breast implant size that will fit your body and your lifestyle.

 About the Procedure

During the procedure, the implant is placed into the natural breast pocket through an incision in the crease beneath your breast. The implants are placed underneath either breast tissue or the chest wall muscle. The procedure lasts one to two hours and is typically performed with general anesthesia, although local anesthesia combined with a sedative is also possible. The incision will be placed in the crease beneath your breast. After surgery, your bustline may be increased by one or more cup sizes.

You will experience some pain, bruising, and swelling after surgery, which should improve during the several days after your procedure. You must avoid heavy exercise for several weeks, but otherwise you can return to work in 5 to 7 days.
