Liposuction of the Neck and Jowls

Are you young and not particularly overweight but unhappy because of a round face that appears fat? Do your chin and neck seem to run together? You are not alone, this is a common problem for both men and women. Until recently, not much has been available to remedy a weak or "double" chin.

Liposuction is a safe and effective technique used to reduce fat cells present in an isolated area.

The incision for liposuction is tiny and in the natural crease under your chin. The suction cannula is inserted through the incision, into the area with excess fat (along the jawline, in the cheeks, or under the chin in the neck). The fat is removed by "vacuuming" out excess fat cells.

After the operation, a snug dressing is placed around your face and neck. The dressing is removed the next day and you may be advised to wear a chin strap for a few days and for several weeks at night.

Very little pain is associated with liposuction. Minimal bruising and some swelling can develop around the suctioned area. Improvement is noticeable immediately, but it may take several months to see the final results.

Recovery Time

Patients usually return to work 3 to 5 days after liposuction.
